Your Special Place
It should be obvious that you cannot easily concentrate on your magic while sitting in a living room full of people and smoke, in front of a TV, munching peanuts and chips.
The best area would be one where you are cut off from your normal activities. It would be ideal, of course, to set aside a room to be used solely for the purpose of making magic. If your bedroom is your own and you don't use it for watching TV or having parties of friends it's a good place to use. But in any case you do need a space where you can be alone for a while every day, a space that you can arrange as you wish --- somewhere without disturbance.
Trying to perform magic in a place which is often in use will cause problems and make the magic less successful because the different vibrations from other people will linger in the atmosphere. You would ether need to spend a lot of time and energy re-setting the balance in that place.
Your objective is to create an atmosphere of serene concentration. Anything that disturbs you, for whatever reason, has to be removed. If you have a photo of someone close to you on the bedside table, and every time your eyes fall on it you feel a twinge of discomfort, or excitement, you need to remove it. It could be that the emotional situation between you and your loved one is heavily charged. Perhaps you feel in your heart that he or she disapproves of your activities.
Look around and consider every object with this in mind. If it is disturbing to your peace, remove it. In the same way, and if you do have the possibility, paint the walls the color most centering for you and lay down a carpet (possibly of a natural fiber) of the same shade. It is best if walls, ceiling and floor are of the same color -- that is, of course, if you are using that space only for magic. The continuity of the color will improve your capacity for concentration. A good color for this purpose is usually pale blue, as it is relaxing and soothing.
