| There are perhaps 50 percent
more solitary pagans than there are those who work in covens. Then there
are people like us who belong to a coven that covers a wide geographical
area. We practice solitary, duo and sometimes in trios. It just depends
on how close we are to the others in our coven.
Working in a coven atmosphere
has possibilities that are unavailable to the single worker. There is the
unity of purpose that is brought to the fore by the energy that the group
creates between them. This group energy is missing from the solitary
circle.
As a solitary worker you are
required to not only generate the energy source but to modulate it as well.
There are no others to help with that channeling of power. You do have
the ability to fashion your magic as needed and to quite literally do things
at the drop of a hat rather than waiting until the group can come together
in order to generate the needed energy. You can also create your circle
however you like, using items that only you choose. This can create
a very personal circle of power. Creating
your magical place can be a wonderful experience.
If we listen to the universal
song of power and become aware of the actual power structure that we are
tapping into, it then becomes clear that we are not alone after all.
There are others out there doing their work at small solitary altars
in the midst of the night.
Listen for the song of the Goddess
and you will hear the chorus of voices that are raised in a single voice
that works towards harmony and balance in this great world. During
both night and day there are many others working their magic just as you
do, they too have times of loneliness and times of great joy. The
key is in the fact that you are not really alone in this wondrous work.
We who share space on this web of energy fields are blessed because we
can reach so far outside ourselves, farther than anyone has been able to
do before.
Sing the silent song of praise
to the God and Goddess, wait in the silent night to feel the thousands
of souls that are doing their work just as you are. Remember; "And
it harm none do what you will." These are true words, they set
the stage for all that we do.
Merry meet, and Merry part,
and Merry meet again, so are the words of the great powers.
