Pet Blessing At this time in our life our home is filled with multitudes of felines.  At times we have had 18 cats, 2 tortoise, 1 snake, a couple birds, a dog and tarantulas.  Since we have so many pets we've made our pet blessing a simple ritual. This blessing can be used for any animal. Many households are made special by the addition of four footed friends. They are important to our spiritual well being and our emotional balance. I try to bring these special partners into all phases of my life and to this end I do a yearly blessing for each of  my friends each spring. Since many pets have a problem with fire and smoke I do not use flame or incense around them.  I make a bowl of water with salt and into that mix I dip a small brush. I shake the brush out and then use it to comb over my pets fur.  As I do this I say a simple invocation to Bast. "Lady Bast please take note of my small friend. Bring your blessing upon them and keep them safe. Help me to make their life as happy as they make mine. With love and trust I put them in your care." Blessed Be ~lmb~
