Type of Herb In the Garden: In the Kitchen:
Anise Plant with Coriander, which promotes its germination and growth. Use in cookies, cakes, fruit fillings, breads, or with cottage cheese, shellfish and pasta dishes.
Basil Plant with tomatoes. Repels flies and mosquitoes. Use in tomato dishes, pesto, sauces, and salad dressings.
Borage Plant with tomatoes, squash & strawberries. It deters tomato worms. Use leaves in salads,  and the flowers can be used in soups and stews
Caraway Plant here and there. Loosens the soil. Use in bread, cheese dip, soups, salads, coleslaw, and on pork and sauerkraut dishes.
Chervil Plant with radishes. Use with soups, salads, sauces, eggs, fish, veal & lamb.
Chives Plant with carrots. Related to the onion, use with vegetables, dressings, rice, sauces.
Dill Plant with cabbages. Keep away from carrots. Use seed for pickling, also add aroma to soups and can be used on strong vegetables and sea food.
Fennel Plant away from other herbs and vegetables it is very strong. Use to flavor pastries, sweet pickles, sausage, tomato dishes, garlic bread, soups, stews and curries.
Garlic Plant near roses and raspberries to deter Japanese beetles. Use in tomato dishes, on bread, in meats of all kinds, potatoes, and almost everything except ice cream.
Lovage Plant here and there to improve the health and flavor of other plants. For soups, stews, salad dressings, Potatoes, and the seeds are used in baking biscuits.
Marjoram Good companion to all vegetable crops. Excellent in almost any meat or fish dish, supports dairy and vegetables as well.
Mint Plant near cabbage and tomatoes deters white cabbage moths. It is common in mid-eastern cooking Use with lamb dishes in jellies or teas and some baking.
Oregano Good companion to all vegetables. Use in tomato dishes, pasta, breads, bean dishes, or in marinades for lamb.
Parsley Plant near asparagus, corn and tomatoes. Use fresh in parsley in soups, sauces, and salads.  Lessens the need for salt in soups.  Makes good tea.
Rosemary Plant near cabbage, beans, carrots, sage. Deters cabbage moth, flies & beetles. Use for poultry, lamb, soup, breads, stews, fresh on pasta and chopped fine in desert dishes.
Summer Savory Plant with beans, and onions to improve growth and flavor. Popular in soups, stews, stuffing, fish, chicken, with green beans and eggs.
Tarragon Good companion to most vegetables. Great with meat, eggs, poultry, seafood, salad dressings, and sauces.
Thyme Plant near cabbage. Deters cabbage worms. Use in casseroles, stews, soups, with eggs, potatoes & green vegetables.
